Spotlight: Bill Allen |
 |
|
Bill Allen is a former Kiwanian (we won’t
hold that against him) coming to the Rotary
Club of Casselberry two years ago and claims
Hank, Carlos and Lloyd as his sponsors. Immediately
after his induction, Bill openly conveyed
his reason for joining the club – he
had just opened a business in Casselberry
and he wanted to continue expressing his
desire for helping underprivileged children
with his project – Take A Kid Fishin
Bill was born and raised just north of Boston
in the City of Lowell an industrialist area
with massive complex mills founded by the
industrialist Francis Cabot Lowell. In the
mid-1800’s it was the second largest
city in New England. Like many of us, Bill
and his wife Daphne (they were married at
the age of 19 and 18 respectively) moved
south and now live in Casselberry with their
two daughters.
Bill is passionate about his automotive
work, something he has done professionally
since 1976. He started with Norman Brothers
Nissan for several years filling jobs in
both sales and service. Here in Orlando,
he managed a center for All Transmission
World before opening Mechanics Plus, which
he co-owns with partner Denis Neumann. Besides
work, Bill is an accomplished artist and
billiard enthusiast (has won many trophies)
and an avid fisherman. Bar none, Take A Kid
Fishin’ is what he loves most about
his involvement with Rotary and he thoroughly
enjoys his role as the club’s Sergeant-At-Arms.
He has been involved with many other projects – Paint-Your-Heart-
Out, Salvation Army, Coalition for the Homeless,
Gift Wrapping for Girls & Boys Town.

Orlando
Sentinel sports columnist, Jerry Greene,
tells it like it is... |
|
|
"Eagles bare it (sort of), grin and earn
crown" "There are so many ways to use the
Internet. Some ways are naughty, some ways
are nice. In the case of philadelphiaeagles.com,
it's a combination that apparently works."
This is just a tip of the iceberg. Jerry
is incisive, commands a great sports encyclopedia
in his brain and is not afraid to tell
it like it is. Don't miss him at tomorrow's
meeting and most definitely be ready with
your favorite questions in the Q & A.
