I was born in Waterbury CT in 1941. I moved
to Florida in 1958 because my dad wasn’t
well and retired early. I completed my last
year of high school at Edgewater High in College
Park. Luckily, we had one year of residence
in Florida and I was able to go to the University
of Florida with an instate tuition. I graduated
from UF in 1963 with a BS in chemistry. >From
Gainesville, I went to the Medical College
of VA Dental School in Richmond. I graduated
in 1968 and then served in the Army Dental
Corps for two years.
My wife, Elaine, and I met in Richmond where
she was a nursing student at MCV. We’ve
been married 37 years. We have fours sons .They
range in age from 21 to 34. Recently, we added
a grandson to our family.
In 1970, I opened my practice on Oxford Road
in Fern Park, and have been there 35 years.
I built my office building in 1975. I’ve
taken numerous post graduate courses and include
all phases of dentistry in my practice. This
has made my work more enjoyable and made all
the difference. I enjoy my work and hope to
practice as long as possible.
Ben Celones and Ron Ange have been friends
over the years and asked me to join Rotary.
They sponsored me and I joined in 1991. I served
as president in 1994-1995. My main projects
were Wheel Chair Ramps and Meals on Wheels.
We built a number of ramps and helped another
club on their ramp projects. Meals on wheels
has continued on thanks to a number of dedicated
members and their spouses. I’ve helped
on various other projects and made some good
friends in Rotary over the years.

The club's International Avenue of Service
committee has put together a very exciting
program for the club this week.
Under the guidance of chair Jim Berko and
co-chair Steve Robinson, the committee has
focused its attention on several fronts which
are very reachable by our club members. The
following is a simple outline of the presentation.
- The Fellowship program available to all
of us;
- Rotary International Youth Exchange;
which includes the Long Term program and
Short Term program
- Our approved Project by our Board-the
Dominican Republic Foster Project
Jim stated: "We will have different Committee
members presenting the information with some
media/pictures helping to show the who and
what of our involvement. Our partnering with
two Dominican Republic Rotary clubs will
also be described as part of our Foundation
Matching Grant to be submitted."
Time permitting, the committee will give
an update on carry-over Projects into this
year,ie,Lithuanian Nursing Training Project
and the Peace/Conflict Resolution Scholarship
program.
