  • President's Forum

I was reviewing the individual attendance recently and we haven’t seen some of you for several weeks or even a month or longer.

The last couple of months our attendance reported to the District has been in the 70’s. There really is no reason for us to not have at least 90% attendance being reported to the District each month.

Can't make the weekly meeting? Rotary has made it so incredibly easy to do a make up:

    • Visit a nearby club (click on the link for a full list)
    • Report attendance to a committee meeting
    • Come join us at a board meeting (2nd Monday of each month)
    • Attend a District event
    • Participate in a project (Meals on Wheels, Coalition for the Homeless, Take a Kid Fishin' etc) and report it to our Secretary, Paul.

Finally, I wanted to let you know that our focus for the next two months will be on membership

We need just two more members to reach R.I. President Carl Wilhem's goal - ending the Rotary year with one more member than what we started with.

We are now at forty (40) members. Bring guests - in the next three weeks we will have more children read their winning essays.

I want to thank Lloyd and Carlos for bringing guests to last week's meeting. They were incredibly impressed with what we do for education and they all expressed interest in being part of our club.

It is an annual treat to hear the students read their winning essays. The topic this year was "Service Above Self."

For a child in the fourth and fifth grade, the topic is esoteric. But was it?

The answer is no. They all brought it down to our everyday world. Their compositions were about caring for others or caring for animals. They all demonstrated a selflessness embodied in Rotary's motto.

Kudos to the parents and teachers. What a great job they have done. We all felt reassured in the future of the America and the world with what we heard today.

If you were not there last week, don't miss essay contest readings on February 8 and February 15.
