In this issue... Take a Kid Fishin' Club's Homestay guests: Helge and Lise Andersen
Take a Kid Fishin' ![]()
We are just a little over a month away from this grand event - taking underprivileged children to fish for a day.
But it is more than fishing. The children learn how to fish from expert volunteers. They have opportunities to win something to remember the day and a few children get to take a bike home and all of the kids will be taking their fishing pole and tackle box home.
Best of all, some will take up fishing as a recreation and hopefully keep them out of trouble.
The club is looking for event sponsors (or recommend a sponsor) of $500 or more. For each $500, you will be basically giving ten children a day they won't forget.
Kudos to Bill Allen for taking (once again) the lead in the club for this annual event already in its third year.

From left: District 1470 Governor Elect Helge Andersen, wife Lise, Denise and Carlos Giraldo
This year, Rotarians throughout the district are hosting District Governor Elects (and their spouses) who will be heading to San Diego to receive training and information about next Rotary year.
There are a total of seventeen couples, eight couples from Australia, three from Denmark, three from England, two from Norway and one from Holland.
For years, our club has participated in the program known as Homestay and Walt Lee has been the Rotarian in the club who has always volunteered to be the host.
This year Denise and Carlos volunteered to host a couple from Denmark - Helge and Lise Andersen. Helge will be District 1470 Governor and he will be presenting a banner from his club - the Rotary Club of Graested (20 miles north from Copenhagen) to President Gary.
