    Sandy Moss

I was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, where my father was a dye chemist in the textile industry, living there until I was 4 or 5 years old. My parents moved to a small town in Connecticut, Clinton: pop 3,000, on Long Island Sound half way between New Haven and New London where my Dad and Mother owned and operated a General Store.

My education was the typical K-12 with about the same classmates (we had a graduating class of 36). After high school, I attended UConn for two years and then went on to Bryant College (now University) where I obtained by degree in 1956.

While at Bryant I met my husband, Alan, who was there on the GI Bill after serving in the US Air Force for 4 years. Alan was born in London, England and moved to the USA in 1947 to return to school and live temporarily with relatives in Hartford, CT.

We married in 1957 and settled in Hartford where Alan finished his schooling and I became a Legal Secretary. In 1960 we had our first child, Jeffrey, and then in April, 1961 we moved to Fresh Meadows, NY. Alan had obtained a position as an accountant with a CPA firm and was studying to be a CPA.

I was a full time Mom. In 1963, we had our daughter, Linda. In 1969, we decided to return to Connecticut and moved to Bloomfield, a suburb of Hartford. Our children were in school and I decided to become a Real Estate Broker. It is an interesting and rewarding field and I continued in the field when we moved to Florida in 1972 where Alan became a partner in a CPA firm.

Around 1983, I made a career change and became a travel consultant. In 1988, I opened a travel agency, Tickets To Go/Cruise Headquarters and owned it until 2004 when I merged the company with GO Travel.

Alan and I have had many travel experiences. We have managed to visit all seven (7) Continents and experience many cultures.

My interest in Rotary goes way back to High School. At graduation I was honored with the Rotary Prize for excellence in the Community and School. When my husband, Alan, went into his own CPA practice I encouraged him to join Rotary. The first Club he joined was the very Club that had honored me!

When we moved here, he joined what is now known as the Winter Park Breakfast Rotary Club and served as President and was a board member for many years and, of course, I was a Rotary Ann. I was first asked to join Rotary by Peter Taulbee who was a member. When he left the club, Bob Walker picked up the offer and invited me to join.

I have served on the Board as Vocational Chair and have tried to help in any way that I can through the years (Coalition for the Homeless, Paint Your Heart Out, Jazz Festival, etc)

Our children and their families (we have three grandchildren) live in Maitland and Altamonte Springs. We are both semi-retired and live in Longwood in The Springs.
