  • News from last week's meeting
    Linda Johnston

New member Linda Johnston with Diversified Data made her vocational talked last week. We learned from her how each state in the union dictates their own minimum wage by voting every year. Florida has chosen to raise the bar and will be voting for a higher minimum wage than stated by the federal government.
    From President Al:
"(club secretary) Jackie encouraged members to go online to the district website to update their info and to attach a photo I offered a testimonial as to how easy it is, saying that if I can do it, anyone can. I offered to take photos and do it for anyone who didn't think they could do it. Bob Walker said he would take me up on it, but he was having a "bad hair" day. I told him to work on it and we would catch him when he was having a good/better hair day."

Our speaker this week: Michael Ertel-Supervisor of Elections, Seminole County
    Michael Ertel

Michael Ertel was appointed the Supervisor of Elections for Seminole County on February 7, 2005 by Governor Jeb Bush.

The Supervisor administers all elections in the County and is responsible for conducting voter registrations, maintaining voter registration lists and statistical data and providing for absentee registration and absentee voting. His goal for the office is to provide top-notch customer service and exemplary conduct of the elections process.

Prior to becoming supervisor Ertel was president of a public relations firm. He was in public relations for more than 12 years, with stints as public affairs representative for the U.S. Army during the Los Angeles riots, Macedonian, and Bosnian operations

His community involvement includes serving as a board member on the Seminole County Boys and Girls Clubs, the Casselberry- based Pathways to Care, and as the 2005 president of the Orlando-area chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. He is the secretary of the 1,200-home Twin Rivers Homeowners' Association in Oviedo. He is also the former vice-chairman of the Seminole County Housing Authority
