He came to Florida in 1962 from Washington D.C. to attend University of Miami where he received a B. S. degree in Geology and Geography and did not go back. After graduation, Chuck taught junior high school science for 10 years while working at the same time towards receiving his building contractor's license. In 1974 he became a license contractor and six years later in 1980 formed his construction company - CHESS, Inc.
His wife Harva has been at his side since his teaching days in Junior High (where they met) and both celebrated their 32nd anniversary this year. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Sara, and son-in- law (Sara's husband) Scott.
