Want to be a Rotary Leader? Join the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) ![]()
The RLI was started in 1994 and is the brainchild of the districts in Zone 31 and 32 (New York, New Jersey).
RLI, a multi-district program, was founded to assist in improving the Rotary knowledge and leadership skills of the future leaders of clubs.
The institute offers a program in three full-day sessions, followed by graduate seminars. Examples of course sessions include:
- The Perfect Meeting
- A Look Outside the Club
- Membership Orientation and Activation
- Introduction to Leadership
- Creating Service Projects
- The Rotary Foundation
Our president Al and president-elect Mike attended the first RLI classes offered in our district (divided in three separate sessions). They were the first of fourteen Rotarians in our district (which included our current governor) representing ten clubs.
Everyone is encouraged to join the next class. Be on the lookout for course information in the next few weeks.
Floridians have a lot to be proud of: Senator Lee Constantine ![]()
President Al poses with Senator Constantine
Senator Constantine is a "local" boy who grew up in the area of Casselberry, graduated from Lyman H.S. and then UCF.
He talked about his tenure in the state senate and the major legislation which have been a huge improvement in the quality of life in Florida.
Without making it sound like a political message, Senator Constantine gave us a synopsis on his top priorities as a representative of the populace. He called them the four "E's": Education, economic development, energy and the environment.
Some of the uplifting facts he brought out about Florida today:
- We have the nation's lowest crime rate
- Since 1990 just over 2 million new jobs have been created - highest in the nation
- There are less state employees today than 10 years ago
- The state has cut over 15 billion in taxes
He spent time talking about UCF (one of the largest universities in the nation) and the impact the medical school will have in our local economy.
Don't miss a great night of Rotary fellowship - the District Conference Dinner If you are a new member of the club, this is a perfect opportunity for you to meet other Rotarians from throughout the district for an evening of fun and fellowship. An uplifting message will be delivered by the Rotary International representative to the conference.
The dinner will be held at the beautiful Lake Receptions in Mount Dora on Monday, October 30 starting at 7 p.m.
Don't miss it. Click on the link below and print the Ticket Order Form.
