  • St. Valentine's Day Celebration
    Valentines Day

One of the most important customs of Valentine's Day festival is the exchange of love notes called ‘Valentines' by lovers.
The tradition is said to have initiated in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans who sent the first known Valentine Day card to his wife from prison. Today, Valentine's Day is the second biggest Valentine's Day card-giving holiday after Christmas.
We, at the Rotary Club of Casselberry will be celebrating the tradition on Wednesday by reading poems (love notes?) written by us.
The writer of the best poem read will receive a bouquet of flowers for his/her "Valentine" - another popular trandition on Valentine's Day.

    Rotary Theme for 2007-2008
    Rotary Shares theme logo

Just over a week ago, incoming president of Rotary International, Wilf Wilkinson (from Canada) revealed his theme for his year as president to over 500 incoming district governors who met in San Diego for training. The theme he brings to Rotary starting July 1st is ROTARY SHARES.
"What makes Rotary great is our expressing the love in our hearts through the work of our hands and our minds," said Wilkinson. "As Rotarians, we don't just sit back and talk about loving other human beings. As Rotarians, we demonstrate that love, and we share that love, through helping each other."
More than a theme, Rotary Shares is a call to action - president-elect Wilf also underscored the need for all of us to share Rotary with others because "Rotary Shares also means inviting people to join their local Rotary clubs."
