    Sue Selsky, Esq., will be speaking to us about Seminole County Legal Aid and the services we provide to the community.

    SCBALAS is a not for profit organization established in 1975. Their program provides free quality legal advocacy to Seminole County's economically disadvantaged residents to improve their quiality of life and enhance their self-sufficiency.

    Linda Johnson and Vicki Helmick are ready to collect your business ad or recognition block and money this week. They also need your image if you have not sent it to them ASAP! Please talk with them or Bill Hufford or Mike if there are any questions or problems.


    George Karcher Award Nomination

    Each year our club honors a person who has demonstrated the exemplary traits of professionalism, courtesy, youth rapport, positive attitude and unselfish contribution of service by a public safety officer. Candidates will have demonstrated a belief in "Service above Self" and serve predominately the Casselberry area residents and businesses.

    Nominations may be made by local government officials, citizens, or employers in the public service sector. Nominations should be made using the nomination form. This form can be downloaded from our website. You may also request a form via email from Joe Pires. Nominations will be accepted until 12:00 PM October 22nd.

    The recipient will receive plaque and public recognition of his or her accomplishments. Besides public recognition, the award designee is bestowed the honor of naming a local charity to which a monetary contribution of $250 is made by our club in the award recipient's name.

    The award will be presented on November 7th in the Commissions Chamber of the Casselberry City hall at a special breakfast meeting.


    Projects Corner: October's Opportunities

    Here's are the upcoming projects for October:

    10/9 - Partners in Democracy - a series of election tending programs where we can raise $500 each time for a couple of hours at Northland Church at 6am. Please contact Bill Hufford.

    10/12 Coalition for the Homeless at 5:30pm. Talk to Bill Allen (the Head Chef) for ahead of time prep help or volunteering at the night. A great volunteer experience serving food.

    10/24 School Essay Contest at 7:30am at Fellowship Church. Contact Sandi Solomon. A great way to see how one of these types of programs are done.


    Sanford Rotary looking for volunteers

    Nov. 4 - The Sanford Rotary is sponsoring a Bike Ride to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club. They need 4 volunteers to help with the stops along the way and SAG vehicles. Please contact President Mike or th Sanford Rotary for more information.

    New Member Induction Process:
    If you have been recently inducted into our club, please talk to Bob Nettles (our Membership Chair). He will tell you how you can start the induction process and really get to see what our wonderful organization is all about.
    2007 New Member & Sponsor Luncheon on Friday, November 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Winter Park Civic Center during the District Conference.
    The three course lunch is $25 per person. All attendees will receive a copy of Rotary International Past President Frank Devlin's latest book - "Frank Talk on Our Rotary Foundation."

    Have you ever wanted to see what it would be like to teach? Here's your chance! Seminole County Public Schools are holding their annual Teach-In on November 18th. You can try a whole day or even just an hour. Here's a great way to say thank you to the educators of our community.
