District Member Ranks Grow; Sponsers At Gold Level Recognized
The new member roster for Rotary District 6980 grew to 89 as of October 10, showing excellent momentum for this Rotary year, which started on July 1.
"This is an encouraging number, especially since there are less than twenty terminated memberships since July 1. I am also aware of several clubs in the district which already have other members in the pipeline, ready to be inducted," stated Governor Denny Kurir.
Two Rotarians in the district have already earned accolades from the governor for having brought five new members into their respective clubs. Bill Curtis (Winter Springs) and Hermann Weiss (President-Lady Lake Area) earned the gold sponsor pin for sponsoring four new members. District Governor Denny and District Membership Chair (DMC) Carlos Giraldo presented the recognition pins.
"Many sponsor pins have been given by Assistant Governors in the past three months," said DMC Giraldo "proving the point that Rotarians in this district want to Share the Gift of Rotary with their friends, colleagues and family." "My wish is that these new Rotarians and prospective members come to the New Member Luncheon at the Winter Park Civic Center on November 9."
Rotarians can register online at http://RotaryDistrict6980.com
go to Member Access: Calendar: find New Member & Sponsors Luncheon on November 9, 2007. The registration deadline is November 2.

| Club Banner Design Update |
 |
Today's meeting President Mike announced that we need to replenish our banner supply and wanted to consider the option to update our banner design before we have the banners printed. There were some great feed back from the members, so we want to proceed to the next step. A Banner Review Committee has been created with Steve Robinson as the chair. Steve understands the history and use of the banners and has presented banners to clubs around the world. Any member that wishes to serve on this committee please contact Steve.
ALL members are encouraged to offer suggestions and ideas about what our banner should represent, and how it should look. Steve and his committee will review all ideas and prepare a presentation to our Board in November. So that we can move decisively on this project before we run out of banners, Steve will be giving a brief overview of the committee goals at our next meeting.
